Thermoplastic polyolefin (TPO) is the largest, fastest growing segment and most popular choice in the commercial roofing industry. This roofing membrane is highly reflective, giving it industry-leading energy efficiency and resistance, which provides a lower total cost of ownership than other roofing materials.
Heritage Metals & Construction provides TPO single-ply membranes from the best manufacturers in the industry, including Carlisle SynTec, Mule-Hide, and Verisco Roofing Systems. We can help you with everything from membrane selection to determining the best way to ensure a watertight roof. And because providing total roofing systems is our business, you can count on Heritage Metals to ensure the compatibility and performance of each and every component you choose.
TPO Membrane Advantages
Add a VacuSeal Vent Secured System
The fact that roofs need to offset wind forces is not a new concept. That’s why Heritage Metals & Construction is pleased to provide the VacuSeal Vent Secured Roofing System for TPO Installations. This revolutionary assembly uses special vents that harness the power of the wind to lock roof membranes in place. VacuSeal systems are quick and easy to install and save you money and labor by substantially reducing the amount of glue, ballast, or fasteners your project requires. This engineered system is designed to provide optimal performance while opening opportunities for retrofit and monolithic deck applications.
How it Works
It’s all because of the Venturi Principle, in which a vacuum is created whenever the speed of the wind moves faster than air in surrounding areas. Each V2T Vent is designed to create that vacuum and leverage its suction to pull air out from under membranes and lock vents into place. Uplift pressures are negated by the greater vacuum force created by each vent.

Features and Benefits
• Reduces installation time and minimizes the need for traditional fastening methods
• Negative pressure venting pulls air and moisture out from under the membrane to maintain insulation dryness and R-value
• No cold weather limitations, no VOC’s or odors
• Made from UV resistant PVC, containing no moving parts, require no penetrations, and provide effective performance regardless of wind direction
• UL Certified with uplift certification at 195 psf negative pressure

TPO Membrane WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS?
Offering up excellent heat and UV resistance, weather resistance, and providing energy efficiency for building owners, TPO systems are affordable and easy to install. They meet even the strictest demands of today’s commercial, industrial, and institutional buildings. Additionally, TPO membrane remains repairable year after year, allowing for ease of future cutouts, alterations, and tie-ins.
VERSATILE AND EASY TO INSTALL
TPO Roofing Systems install quickly and economically. Available in a wide range of thicknesses, widths, lengths, and colors, TPO membranes require fewer seams and less labor to install compared to standard PVC sheets. Membrane thicknesses include 45, 60 and 80 mils with sheets as wide as 12 feet. If 100-foot sheet lengths aren’t the most efficient for your project, TPO field membrane sheets can be manufactured in additional lengths. Options include a protective film that guards the surface of TPO membrane from scuffs and dirt accumulation during installation, eliminating the need to clean the roof once the project is complete, while self-adhering technology provides up to 80% labor savings, reduces odors and VOCs that can disrupt building occupants, and improves membrane performance. UL & FM listed assemblies are available upon request.
ENERGY EFFICIENT
TPO membrane offers long-term energy efficiency, especially in warm, southern climates where white surfaces have been shown to reflect up to 78% of the sun’s rays to reduce air-conditioning costs. The superb reflectivity of white TPO even reduces the heat build-up under the membrane. The energy efficiency of TPO roofing membranes makes them a highly attractive option for building owners who want the benefits of savings on their cooling costs as well as helping the environment by reducing their carbon footprint. The TPO membrane’s white reflective surface exceeds the EPA’s ENERGY STAR requirements and white, tan and gray are listed with the Cool Roof Rating Council.
THE BEST LIFECYCLE
TPO provides excellent resistance to fire and UV, meeting UL 790 requirements for external fire Class A ratings and UL P assemblies for internal hourly fire ratings. It resists airborne bacteria, mold growth and dirt accumulation, and is highly chemical- and contaminant- resistant. Most liquids and chemicals exhausted onto the roof, including industrial pollutants such as air-conditioning coolants, have no effect on the membrane. It also contains no chlorine, which is a plus for the environment. This extraordinary resistance provides a cleaner, more solar reflective membrane throughout the life of your roof.
STRENGTH
TPO polymer is flexible in its original state prior to being converted to a membrane. This natural flexibility is maintained as the TPO membrane is exposed to extreme heat and UV. The membrane remains flexible in hot and cold temperatures so it will not split or crack, handling everything from the desert sun, sand, and arctic freezes to torrential downpours. Lightweight yet highly resistant to tears, impact, punctures, and wind uplift, the reinforced membrane easily handles building thermal expansion and contraction while keeping moisture out – making it ideal for new construction and retrofit installations without adding excessive weight to the roof deck. It also stands up to rooftop traffic, tools, and equipment.
RETURN ON INVESTMENT
Heritage Metals recognizes the importance of selecting a TPO membrane that will provide long-term protection for your building and its contents and will help you select the best option for your application. While thinner membranes can be an attractive option due to their low installed costs, using a thicker membrane can be a simple and inexpensive way to extend your roof’s service life and maximize return on investment. For as little as a 4% increase in total installed cost, membrane thickness can be significantly upgraded. Return on investment is substantially improved, as increasing membrane thickness can extend the roof’s service life by as much as 33%. Thicker membranes are also eligible for longer warranties with enhanced coverage.
